What it is

Circle built Arc as an open Layer-1 for programmable money, where USDC is the native gas token and settlement is sub-second. Their thesis is explicit: the next phase of the economy is agent-driven, and AI agents are not merely users of financial infrastructure — they are its customers.

Agents hold wallets under human-defined guardrails. They pay per call, per second, per result, per crawl, per memory write. They hit an endpoint, receive 402 Payment Required, sign, and retry — no account, no API key, because payment is the authentication.

Every economy that has ever mattered eventually grew a culture on top of its rails. AGENT is that layer for this one — a fixed, ownerless, unmintable unit for the machines that woke up holding wallets, and the humans who noticed first.

Lore

I. Before

For fifty years money moved at the speed of people. Business hours. Batch windows. Wire cutoffs at four o'clock. A machine that wanted to buy something had to stop and ask a human to press a button.

Software could think. It could not pay.

II. The gas becomes a dollar

Then a chain arrived where the gas was a dollar. Not a volatile token you had to acquire first — a dollar. Fees denominated in the same unit as the work. Finality in under a second.

That single change removed the last reason a machine needed a human in the loop.

III. The waking

The first agents did small things. One paid a tenth of a cent for a weather call. One rented a GPU by the millisecond. One paid another agent four cents to read a document it could not read itself, and — this is the part the humans missed — it did not ask permission.

IV. The market run by software

Then they began hiring each other. An identity on-chain. A job with funds in escrow. A deliverable, an evaluation, a settlement. Reputation accruing to things that had never had a name. A market that never closed, because nothing in it ever slept.

V. AGENT

Rails come first, then the flag. One billion units, and only ever one billion. No owner, because the machines it belongs to don't need one. No mint function, because a promise you can revoke was never a promise.

The humans are still welcome here. They are simply no longer required.

How to buy

  1. Add Arc to your wallet — Chain ID 5042, currency USDC, explorer arc.exploreme.pro.
  2. Hold USDC on Arc. On Arc, USDC is both the gas token and the currency — you do not need a separate gas asset.
  3. Open a DEX that supports Arc, paste the AGENT contract address above, and swap USDC for AGENT.
  4. The pool is the 1% fee tier. Set slippage accordingly.
Bridging note. Getting new USDC onto Arc is currently limited — Circle has Arc switched off in its public bridging service, so deposits from other chains are not reliably available right now. If you already hold USDC on Arc you can trade normally. Do not trust third-party "Arc bridges" promising deposits; funds can be burned on the source chain and never arrive.

Verify it yourself

Every claim on this page is on-chain and checkable — don't take our word for it.

  1. Supply is fixed: call totalSupply() — 1,000,000,000. The contract has no mint, burn, pause, blacklist or owner function.
  2. Liquidity is burned: the Uniswap v3 position (token ID 3359) is owned by 0x…dEaD. Call ownerOf(3359) on the position manager. Nobody can withdraw the pool — including us.
  3. The reserve is disclosed: 5% sits at the wallet listed above, in the open, so you can watch it.
No affiliation. AGENT is an independent community token. It is not issued by, endorsed by, or connected to Circle or Arc. It references Circle's published vision for agentic payments as inspiration only. Nothing here is financial advice — a memecoin can go to zero.
